Komli is a community house concept and a co-creation space in Kaspi, which aims to develop the local community and is open to local community members, young people, incoming researchers, artists, and organizations who want to use the space for meetings, consultations, ideas, reflection.
The founders of the Komli believe that in an isolated social environment such as Kaspi Municipality, it is very important to create such an infrastructure that, on the one hand – identifies and puts local community initiatives/leaders in the foreground and enables them to develop, and on the other hand attracts people, ideas and resources. Founders are motivated to attract funding from various donors which will help to strengthen the cultural and social capital of the community.
According to Teona Dalakishvili, one of the founders and community activists: “Creating a gathering place is already the first step, which will strengthen the sense of belonging to the community and in the future, increase the preconditions for involvement in civic initiatives. At the same time, Komli also ensures that various educational or cultural opportunities become more accessible to the residents of Kaspi Municipality. Especially in villages where people’s lives are limited to daily household activities.”
Komli is a multifunctional center that operates on the principles of social enterprise and offers the following services to customers:
- Community and educational space: the space will be dedicated to the representatives of the local community to organize events or discussion meetings initiated by them, as well as offer various services to the local community, including training, mentoring, acceleration programs, etc .;
- Workspace: This is a co-creation space that offers local people, organizations, interested researchers, and artists the use of space to co-create a project/work/book/research; The space can be used free of charge by the local community, while it will be paid for by outside groups and individuals.
- Hostel: Arriving guests and organizations will be able to stay in the hostel at an affordable price;
- Safe and recreational space: Existing quiet environment and additional psycho-social services program offered to help relieve stress and strengthen socio-emotional skills The service will be mostly commercial.
“The main working area of our programs will be Kaspi Municipality and Shida Kartli region as a whole. However, we also plan to popularize and promote the idea of this type of community space, and in this regard, we will cooperate with other places in the regions, similar spaces, or interested parties, “- said Teona Dalakishvili.
